How our Pro-Pak distillation column packing material measures up.

  • Greater efficiency for better separation

  • Superior performance at vacuum

  • Higher free space to ensure lower pressure drop

  • Self-wetting to reduce equilibrium time

  • Higher flood rate at any pressure

  • Ideal for laboratory and pilot scale distillation columns

  • Designed for atmospheric and reduced pressure distillation applications

  • Unique shape minimizes interlocking and simplifies filling and emptying columns

  • Available in 316 Stainless Steel, 400 Monel®, and other specialty metals for enhanced corrosion resistance or to suit specific applications

Available Alloys

Based on the type of alloy used for manufacturing, Pro-Pak can be easily customized to meet the needs of industries ranging from laboratory and pilot plant distillation, to smaller manufacturing plants.

The Standard Pro-Pak MOC is 316/L Stainless Steel, but Pro-Pak can be formulated in a variety of specialty metals to meet the needs of a number of industries. Some of our most commonly requested include:

  • Alloy 20 | Sulfuric, Nitric, and Phosphoric Acid, Heavy Petroleums
  • Alloy 110 Copper | Special Applications and Beverage Alcohol

  • Alloy 200 Nickel | Halogen Compounds, Various Acidic and Alkaline Systems
  • Alloy 304 Stainless Steel | Petroleums

  • Alloy 316 Stainless Steel | Majority of non-Halogen Separations, Petroleums
  • Alloy 400 Monel | Fluorine Compounds, Sulfuric Compounds, other Halogen Compounds, Various Acidic and Alkaline Systems
  • Hastelloy® C276 | Chlorinated Compounds, especially high temperature, other Halogen Compounds
  • Titanium Grade 1| Hot Chlorides, Bromides, and Iodides, Moist Gas of Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine, Many Oxidizing Acids including Nitric

Interdistributor Screens

Packing supports at the bottom of columns are designed to perform two critical functions – support the packing in the column and distribute the vapor uniformly into the packing without causing flooding.

For columns larger than two inches in diameter, our interdistributor screen resting on an 1/4” flange has been found to provide necessary packing support. In columns up to 8” in diameter, an additional support is needed.

Packing Holddown Screens

Engineered to prevent the bed of packing from being disturbed when bumping occurs in the reboiler or when the column is operated under flooding conditions, these flat, circular screens are placed in the column directly under the top flange.

All screens come in standard 10x10x0.025″ mesh. For custom sizes or to learn more about any of our products, fill out our information form or call 814-308-5604.
